Shin splints? How can I fix and prevent?

Depending on what sport you play, switch up your shoes. If you NEED cleats, it will be tricky to prevent them. If you can switch to running shoes with an arch in them then it will help greatly. I used to get shin splints every lacrosse season, switching to running shoes helps a TON. Fill some little dixie cups with water, put them in the freezer, and when you get home from running peel off the top of the cup and rub the icy part around your lower legs( under the knee above the ankle). I got special insoles for my every day shoes (regular vans slip on's) and it helped me greatly.
